Hadassah's Story - A True Inspiration
Hadassah’s story is truly inspirational not only about where she came from but what she has been through and the determination this girl has shown a lot of people. She has changed the hearts and also the thinking some of us have. We have to mention all the help and support she received and how lucky we all are to have this type of support in Australia and PNG.

Melbourne Retreat Urban Camp 2010

The Peter Hughes BURN Foundation just held their retreat at Urban Camp in Melbourne. We welcome the new retreat attendees for their courage and invaluable input.

As the President of The Peter Hughes Burn Foundation and a Burn Survivor I have to say that this is the best retreat that I have ever attended so far. Not only did we have the professional expertise of David Bonython-Wright who facilitated but to all the attendees. We did something different this retreat by leaving the comfort zone and ventured into Melbourne and visited the Melbourne Markets.

People travelled from Tasmania, Sydney, Cairns, Perth, and Melbourne to attend this retreat. When everyone arrived on Friday afternoon it was catch up and it was very interesting for me watching people mingle and introduce themselves. There were a few quiet ones but believe me by Monday morning those people were chit chat and completely came out of their shells. This is what I love to see at a Burn Survivors Retreat people change for the better.

Special thanks from Peter Hughes and the Board Members to all the organisations that supported us towards making this retreat a success. Drayton's Family Wines, Smartline Personal Mortgage Advisers, Loscam, Bio Oil, V Moto, Melbourne Mini Buses, Banana Boat, FRESHPROMOTIONS, Marine Blue Sunscreen, PharmaCare, and all the staff at Urban Camp.

Peter Hughes BURN Foundation - Improving the lives of BURN survivors

With medical advances in research and burn injury treatment, we are seeing a growing number of people survive what has been described as the largest insult the human body can endure. People with a severe burn injury often feel very uncertain about their future. The shock of aggressive treatment and possible disfigurement can turn their world upside down, leaving them to feel helpless and alone. With support comes independence, without it the trauma lasts a lifetime!

The Peter Hughes BURN Foundation is a not-for-profit registered charity dedicated to making a difference to the lives of burn survivors and their families. The Foundation offers assistance with psychosocial issues on how to fit back into the community, supports counseling and educational programmes, funds research and provides forums where burn survivors and their families can share their experiences.
