Hadassah's Story - A True Inspiration
Hadassah’s story is truly inspirational not only about where she came from but what she has been through and the determination this girl has shown a lot of people. She has changed the hearts and also the thinking some of us have. We have to mention all the help and support she received and how lucky we all are to have this type of support in Australia and PNG.

As the President of The Peter Hughes Burn Foundation and a Burn Survivor I have to say that this is the best retreat that I have ever attended by far. Not only did we have the professional expertise of David Bonython-Wright we also had a Burn Survivor attend from Papua New Guinea. Steve Williams also facilitated alongside David and I have to say they certainly complemented one another what a great combination.

People travelled from Tassie, Sydney, Cairns, Papua New Guinea, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Canada to attend this retreat. When everyone arrived on Friday afternoon it was catch up and it was very interesting for me watching people mingle and introduce themselves. There were a few quiet ones but believe me by Monday morning those people were chit chat and completely came out of their shells. This is what I love to see at a Burn Survivors Retreat people change for the better.

Saturday night we had a family night where family members were invited to attend for a BBQ dinner. I have to acknowledge Aileen (naughty nurse) she not only gave up her weekend to be our nurse she participated with all the burn survivors and within a few hours she was one of us. Aileen is the most natural loving person I have ever met and the best nurse ever a big THANKS to Ails.

Lottie the Dalmatian was just a high light for the weekend thankyou Lucy for sharing your wonderful companion with us I can speak for all who attended she was a pleasure to have at our retreat. Keep an eye out guys you will be seeing a lot more of Lotti in the future.

A big thanks to Peter Hughes our Patron he shared his Bali experience with everyone at the retreat and it was great to have Pete there. Its not until you actually get to talk to Pete you really understand what his all about he certainly is the “Quiet Achiever” and observer. Thanks so much Peter your presence was truly appreciated by all at the retreat. Well guys I hope I have not left anyone out I really hope everyone enjoyed the retreat I am a great believer “you only get out what you put in”. The next retreat will be in Melbourne next year and I will let you know dates closer to that time. Until we meet again my friends stay safe and god bless.

Love
