Geyser Safety

Adjusting and setting the geyser to an appropriate and safe temperature is probably one of the most significant burn prevention measures that can be undertaken in the home.

• Hot water delivery systems should be set to deliver water at less than 50º Celsius – the lower the temperature, the lower the risk.

• Test the temperature regulating accuracy of a geyser thermostat by running hot water into a basin and testing with a thermometer to check the temperature. If it is higher than 50º Celcius, adjust the thermostat to a lower setting and recheck 24 hours later.
