Hot Liquid Safety

Many burn injuries, especially involving children, are caused by hot liquids!

• Never add hot water while a child is in the bath.

• Install child resistant taps and anti scald devices on bath taps and shower heads

• Keep hot liquids away from table and counter edges.

• Never carry or hold a child and hot liquids at the same time.

• Test all heated liquid before giving it to a child or placing it within their reach.

• Remove tablecloths when toddlers are present in the home, as they tug and pull on objects within reach. They can easily pull hot liquids onto themselves.

• Avoid leaving hot water in the kettle in case a child pulls on the cord, use a flask.

• Never allow a child to inhale hot steam
